Thorny Devil |
Cat. No. GD11660 |
|
I don't know why people call me a little devil. Yes, I'm
thorny, but I'm very harmless...unless you are an ant. I love eating ants one
at a time (up to 3000 ants in a single meal). I live in the desert and dig a
shallow burrow during the hottest part of the day. My thorny body is very
useful for defending myself, blending into my environment and I can drink rain
that runs along the spikes and into my mouth Here are some interesting
facts about myself I thought you might like to know:
Scientists
call me: Moloch horridus
Real size ranges from:
190mm - 205mm
I usually live: in sandy habitats and
live along the West Coast of Western Australia and in the arid interior
Breeding:season is in September, the female will lay 3-10
eggs underground. The eggs hatch after about 3 months.
