Not sure of my true origins, but I have a couple theories.
Australia is not truly my native land, but I think I arrived between 3500 and
4000 years ago. The oldest Dingo fossil found has been carbon dated at 3450
years old - the approximate era at which rock engravings of Dingoes also appear
in Aboriginal art.
Dingoes have never been on the island State of Tasmania
which separated from the mainland some 10,000 years ago. According to latest
DNA testing, Dingoes evolved 135,000 years ago and were the world's first
domestic dog, predating the wolf. A 'marker' has been found in the Dingo which
is not present in the wolf, making the Dingo a separate species. It is believed
that I'm an ancestor of the original dog breed. Here are some interesting
facts about myself I thought you might like to know:
Scientists
call me: Canis lupus dingo
Real size ranges from:
520mm - 600mm tall
I usually live: in various places,
ranging from tropical coastal beaches, inland deserts or alpine
forest
Breeding:season is May to July. I love my girl and
will mate with her for life. When we have pups, we both try to raise them.
