I have a featherless head and a long black, curved bill. My
body is covered in white feathers. The young ones will have black feathers up
along their neck. When you see me flying, my friends and I like flying in a "V"
shape...not sure why, but it looks cool. Here are some interesting facts
about myself I thought you might like to know:
Scientists call
me: Threskiornis molucca
Real size ranges from:
690mm-760mm
I usually live: in swamps, lagoons,
floodplains and grasslands, but have also begun liking urban parks and
gardens
Breeding: or as I like to call it, courtship.
First I secure a pairing territory on a branch of a tall tree in order to
attract the female. Then make a noisy display, as well as showing aggression
towards other males. When a female arrives, I attract her by bowing from my
branch and offering her a twig. When she grasps it, we begin to preen one
another. Once our bond is cemented, we fly off to build a nest at another
location. Romantic, isn't it.
