Budgies |
|
Budgies are wild birds as well as house pets. Wild budgies
are mostly found in Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. They feed
mostly off grass seeds. Budgies are common pets and can be trained to talk and
sit on your finger. Younger birds are easier to train than older ones. You can
tell whether a budgie is female or male by looking at the colour of its cere.
The female cere is brown and the male cere is blue. Here are some
interesting facts about myself I thought you might like to
know:
Scientists call me: Melopstiiacus undulatus
Shaw
Real size ranges from: 150mm-180mm
I
usually live: dry inland parts of Australia around open plains, scrubby
areas and farmlands
Breeding:The female lays five eggs at
a time. The eggs are pure white and the size of a large button. At three weeks
old the baby budgies are ready to leave the
nest.
