Garden Watering Systems

Fruit Trees

Fruit trees need no watering during their dormant period when all their bio processes shut down.

But during the active growth and fruiting periods they need to have good soil moisture available. Keep the soil around the tree well mulched and supplied with compost and organic matter. This should extend to the edge of the leaf canopy.

A good way to provide the water is to use a Moss Spikespray system with Half Circle spray heads such as : -

Fruit tree heaven.

For a free standing fruit tree like the one shown here, use two of these sprays placed on opposite sides of the trunk.

For an espalier tree next to a wall, a single sprayhead is ususlly sufficient.

With a Spikespray system you can easily move the sprayheads aside temporarily when it comes time to pick the fruit or to attend to pruning.
